Our Approach

Why Brands Choose SOUP For Social.

Strategy, creative production and media buying handled by one senior team.

Creative And Media In One Team

Creative and media are one decision, so we make them in one place. What the buying data proves goes straight into the next creative brief, so the work builds on itself quarter after quarter.

Direct Access To Senior People

The strategist who scopes the work is the one who does it. You deal directly with people who have managed substantial social budgets in competitive categories, and they stay with you as the programme grows.

We Agree The Numbers First

Before anything goes live we settle the audience, the measurement model and the return the programme needs to clear. That makes month one readable. And if the numbers say social is the wrong channel for you right now, we say so on the first call.

Social That Works With Your Other Channels

Paid social, SEO, Google Ads and email sit in one team here, working to one commercial plan. The demand social creates shows up in your branded search, and the audiences it builds become an asset email can monetise. Budget moves to whichever channel is earning, and every channel benefits from what the others learn.

Social Media Services.

Strategy, creative and media run as one programme. What yours needs depends on what you sell, who has to be convinced and where the margin sits. Social is one part of what we do.

Paid Social Advertising

Full funnel campaigns across Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Prospecting, retargeting and retention each carry their own budget and their own target, so you can see which part of the funnel is doing the work.

Your First 90 Days.

What happens, and when. The first quarter is deliberately front loaded with foundations, because the accounts that scale cleanly in month six are the ones that were built properly in month one.

Weeks 1 to 2

Audit And Foundations

We audit the accounts, fix the pixel and Conversions API, settle the audience map and the measurement model, and brief the first round of creative.

Weeks 3 to 4

Launch And Learn

Campaigns go live with a clean split between prospecting and retargeting. These weeks are about clean data, creative coverage and finding which concepts hold attention.

Weeks 5 to 12

Optimise And Scale

Budget moves behind the creative and audiences returning the most. Production follows the concepts that are working, and we open a second platform once the numbers support it.

Month 4 onward

Compound

Creative runs on a monthly production cycle, organic and paid share one content pipeline, and the plan extends into search and email when the numbers support it.

Creative Is The Biggest Lever In Paid Social.

Targeting has narrowed on every platform over the past few years. The algorithms now find the buyer largely on their own, which leaves the offer and the creative as the levers you still control. The gap between a 1.5x return and a 4x return usually sits there.

We run creative as a discipline in its own right. A monthly slate of new concepts, each one tested against the last, and reporting that tells you which idea earned the attention. Once the easy gains are behind you, the headroom is all in the creative.

  • +Concepts briefed from the offer, then built for the format
  • +Statics, carousels and short form video produced in house
  • +Hook and thumbnail testing before full production
  • +Creator content where it outperforms studio work

How We Report On Social Performance.

Reporting starts from the number your business already runs on. For an ecommerce brand that is revenue and blended return. For a lead generation business it is cost per qualified enquiry, and what those enquiries are worth once your sales team has worked them.

Platform reporting is only part of that picture. Each platform measures its own contribution generously, so we read it alongside GA4 and against what total revenue did while spend moved. You end up with a number that holds outside the ad account and stands up in a board pack.

  • +A live dashboard you can open whenever you want the detail
  • +Monthly reporting on cost per acquisition, ROAS and revenue
  • +Creative level reporting, so you know which concept earned the result
  • +The senior team walking you through it

The Platforms We Run.

The mix is rarely even. One platform usually carries the volume while the others do a more specific job around it.

Facebook

The volume engine in most accounts, with the broadest reach across age groups and the deepest measurement of any social platform. Usually where a programme starts, and where most of the budget earns its return.

Instagram

Where visual categories and considered purchases perform, carried by Reels, Stories and creator content. Budget is shared with Facebook inside Meta, so the two are planned as one.

TikTok

Discovery at scale for brands with something to show. Creative carries the result here, and a steady production pipeline is what keeps the account working.

LinkedIn

The right room for B2B, higher value services and recruitment. A higher cost per click and a longer sales cycle, both of which the deal size justifies.

Pinterest

A planning platform more than a social one, which suits home, interiors, fashion, food and weddings. Intent runs higher than the rest of paid social and content keeps working for months.

Organic Social

The channel that makes everything else more efficient. A feed people choose to follow gives you a warm audience to retarget and a content library the paid programme can draw on.

How Social Media Advertising Works.

Search sells intent. Social sells attention. Nobody opens Instagram meaning to buy something, so the job of a campaign is to earn a moment of interest with the creative and carry it through to a purchase or an enquiry. The platforms handle most of the targeting now, so what the creative does with that attention is the part still under your control.

Creative volume matters more here than in almost any other channel. The platforms reward accounts that give them enough material to learn from, so a working programme produces new concepts on a schedule and moves budget behind the ones that earn it.

Measurement is what holds it together. With the pixel, the Conversions API and a sensible attribution window in place, you can see which concept produced which sale, what it cost, and how much more the channel will carry at that efficiency.

Reach Buyers Before They Start Searching

Paid social gets in front of people before they search, so a brand can grow past the volume already looking for it. It also validates a new offer, market or product against a cold audience faster than any other channel.

Creative Built For Testing

Producing content ourselves means a concept reaches market quickly and the next one is briefed off real results. That tempo is what gives a programme room to keep improving in month six.

Measure Through To Revenue

Pixel and Conversions API set up properly, server side events where they help, and reporting that ties spend to revenue. You see what each platform earned and what it would take to scale it.

Paid Social, Organic Social Or Both?

Most established businesses end up running both. The order you introduce them decides how quickly the money starts working.

Paid Social

Paid social is the fastest route to volume. You buy the reach, so a new offer can be validated in weeks and scaled by putting more behind it. It suits a business with something ready to sell and a clear view of what a customer is worth. Budget sets the ceiling and creative decides how close you get to it.

Organic Social

Organic is the slower asset, and the one that compounds. It builds an audience you can retarget, a library of content already tested on real people, and the credibility a buyer checks for after they click your ad. It suits brands with a story people want to follow and the patience to build the audience.

Both Together

Running both is where the real leverage sits. Organic proves concepts at no media cost and the winners graduate into paid, while paid grows the audience that organic then keeps. Run by one team, the brand also speaks with a single voice across both.

Industries We Work With.

Social behaves differently in every category. Cost per thousand impressions, the length of the decision and the kind of content that earns attention all move, and so does the platform that should lead the account. These are the categories we know best, and our case studies cut across most of them.

Ecommerce And Retail

Catalogue and creative led campaigns judged on revenue and contribution margin, with retention flows picking up where acquisition leaves off.

Health And Fitness

Membership and clinic acquisition where trust does the selling, so real people, real spaces and real results carry the campaign.

Professional Services

Higher value lead generation on LinkedIn and Meta, judged on qualified enquiries and close rate. The number that matters is what a client is worth once they sign.

Education And Enrolment

Campaigns with a short window and a hard deadline, where creative volume and fast retargeting decide how full the intake gets.

Hospitality And Venues

Local reach, bookings and the content that makes a venue worth choosing, with organic and paid working from the same shoot.

Beauty And Fashion

Creator led content and rapid testing in the most visual categories on every platform, where the strength of the hook sets the ceiling.

Social Media FAQs.

The questions we get asked most often by marketing leaders weighing up social, including what it costs, how long it takes and what to expect from an agency.

✛What does a social media agency do?

A social media agency plans, produces and runs the content and advertising a business puts on social platforms, then measures what comes back.

That covers audience and offer strategy, creative production, paid media buying across platforms like Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and Pinterest, organic content and community management, and the tracking that ties all of it to revenue or leads. A good agency is accountable for a number your business already reports on.

✛How much does social media marketing cost?

Management fees for an established business typically land between $2,000 and $5,000 a month. What moves you within that range is how many platforms you run, how much creative needs producing and how complex the measurement is.

At SOUP, organic social management starts from $2,000 a month and paid social management starts from $2,500 a month. Our social media packages page sets out what sits in each tier. Media spend is separate and paid straight to the platforms, so you keep full sight of it.

✛How much should I spend on social media ads?

The floor is set by the platform, not by ambition. Meta needs roughly fifty conversions per ad set per week to leave the learning phase and optimise properly, so your minimum viable budget is that number multiplied by a realistic cost per result.

For most businesses that means somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000 a month in media to test a channel properly, and north of $8,000 a month to scale one. It is usually better to fund one platform well than to divide the same budget across three.

✛Which social media platform is best for advertising?

It comes down to what you sell, who buys it and what you can produce. Meta suits the widest range of businesses on reach and measurement alone. TikTok rewards brands that can keep producing something watchable. LinkedIn is the right room for B2B and higher value services, at a higher cost per click over a longer sales cycle. Pinterest behaves more like a search platform and suits home, interiors, fashion, food and weddings.

The usual path is one platform first, proven on the economics, then a second once the creative pipeline can feed both.

✛What is the difference between paid social and organic social?

Paid social buys reach. You pick the audience, the budget and the offer, and you get an answer quickly, so it is the fastest way to test something new or scale something that already works.

Organic builds reach slowly, and pays you back in audiences you can retarget, content already tested on real people, and the credibility a buyer checks for after they click an ad. Running the two together is usually what makes the paid programme cheaper over time.

✛How long does it take to see results from social media advertising?

Paid social gives you early signals inside two to three weeks, about how long a campaign needs to clear the learning phase and produce readable data. A fair judgement on the channel takes around ninety days, because that covers two or three creative cycles and shows whether performance holds as budget goes up.

Organic sits on a longer curve. Expect three to six months before the audience is big enough to move the numbers, and treat anything quicker as a bonus.

✛What is a good ROAS on paid social?

Across large samples of ecommerce advertisers, the median return on ad spend on Meta sits closer to 2x than the figures often quoted. For most brands, 1.5x to 2.5x is a normal working range and anything above 3x is a strong result.

The more useful number is your breakeven return: one divided by your gross margin. A business on a 40% margin breaks even at 2.5x, so 3x is comfortably profitable there and thin for a business on 25%. We set the target off your margin before campaigns go live.

✛Do you produce the content, or do we?

We produce it. Statics, carousels, motion and short form video are made in house, and we source and brief creators where user generated content outperforms studio work.

Some clients send us their own footage and product photography and we build the ads from it. Either way, concepts get briefed from the offer and the audience, and new material keeps arriving often enough to keep the testing going.

✛We already have an in house social team. Can you still help?

Yes, and it is a common shape. Some clients keep organic and community in house and hand us the paid programme and the performance creative. Others keep the buying and use us for strategy, production and a second opinion on where the budget should sit.

If what you want is a review before you commit to anything, our consultancy engagements are built for exactly that, with a channel audit, a strategy review and a plan your own team can execute.

✛How do you measure social media performance?

We start from the number your business already runs on. For ecommerce that is revenue and blended return. For lead generation it is cost per qualified enquiry and what those enquiries are worth once sales has been through them.

Platform reporting is one input into that. Each platform measures its own contribution generously, so we read it next to GA4 and against what total revenue did while spend moved. You get a live dashboard, monthly reporting down to creative level, and someone senior to walk you through it.

✛How is social media advertising different from Google Ads?

Search captures demand that already exists. Someone typing a product into Google has told you what they want, so Google Ads usually gives you the shortest path to a sale.

Social creates demand that was not there yet. It reaches people before they start searching, so growth is no longer capped by the demand that already exists. The two work best together, with social building the awareness and search collecting the branded queries that follow. Blended cost per acquisition comes in lower than either channel manages alone.

✛Where are your clients based?

Across Australia and overseas. We work with Australian and international companies, including brands trading in the United Kingdom and Singapore.

Paid social is a borderless channel by default, so where a business trades affects the targeting, the creative and the timing far more than it affects how the account is run. Where a brand has physical locations we build the campaign structure around them, so each site answers for its own budget.

✛Is there a minimum term?

No. There is no lock in contract and no minimum term.

We do ask for ninety days before you judge the channel, because that is what it takes to fix the tracking, clear the learning phase and run enough creative cycles to know whether a result is real. That is a recommendation about when the numbers become meaningful. You can stop at any point.

✛Who owns the ad accounts and the creative?

You do. Ad accounts, business manager assets, pixels, audiences and every piece of creative we produce belong to your business.

We work inside your accounts wherever they exist and set them up in your name where they do not. If the relationship ends, it all stays with you and we hand over access without friction.

✛What do we need in place before we start?

Very little. A business manager and ad account, a pixel on the site, and a clear view of what a customer or a lead is worth to you.

If any of that is missing or misconfigured we sort it in the first fortnight, and it is usually the highest value work of the first month. Accurate measurement is what lets the platforms optimise towards revenue.
